I've tried removing the account, disabling IMAP in the Gmail settings on the websitejust can't get it to show the sync period as time instead of number of emails.
No idea why this specific account is having these issues when every setting is the same. There doesn't seem to be any other advanced settings in the app or on Gmail where I can change it. The Gmail app has no problem and shows the setting to sync a time period for all accounts. That's strange why it's one specific account, especially when nothing seems to be causing. I checked mine just incase and it appears normal like your other 2 accounts I don't know what could be causing it.
Have you tried deleting all the accounts and only setup the corrupt account and see if it stays the same? Yeah two of the account were showing that, the other just had "Number of emails to load" instead, no option to change the method to time period etc.
Now another confusing thing has happened. I've tried removing the problem account from my phone fully and adding it as a stand alone email account in the app but still had the same issue. What is happening. So another step, I disabled the Gmail app completely, then removed my Google accounts from the phone and added them again.
Mmm it seems to be pointing towards the account itself, has anyone tried accessing the account on an unrecognised device? Did you go in and switch POP on to see if it helped after you got that message? After a phone reboot the accounts can be added to the Email app without a problem.

I am consistently experiencing this issue with all the emails that I am receiving from certain senders.
Most of the time, I can forward the email to myself and the body content will display. However this work around does not work. I am not experiencing any issues when accessing my email via the Windows email app on my laptop or the iOS mail app on my iPad. It is an issue that only occurs in the Samsung email app. To test this theory, I setup my Yahoo email account in the Samsung email app. I experienced the same issue.
So now I know the issue is specifically related to the Samsung app and that the use of the app to specifically access AOL email is not the culprit. I have cleaned the cache which I do regularly with no avail. Next I deleted my AOL account from the app, uninstalled the email app doesn't uninstall it completely from the phone but rolls back the updates to the app.
I then setup access to my AOL email from scratch and that did not correct the issue. I have been doing internet and forum searches almost daily to see if others are experiencing the same issue or if anyone has discovered a fix or if Samsung has acknowledged and is working on the issue.
The only place I have found mention of the issue is in theGoogle Play store. From reading the recent app reviews for the Samsung email app, I can see that many other people are having the same issue since the update. In the meantime, I have installed another email app to access my email. However, it really bugs me that an app specifically developed by Samsung that was pre-installed on my phone and cannot be deleted.
At the very least, Samsung should acknowledge that they are aware of the issue and that they are working on a fix an estimate of the timeframe for a fix if that is known. It has been over 2 weeks since the update installed on my phone and the email issue began. Most app developers have fixed any bugs within that timeframe or at the very least, let people know that a solution is in the works.
It can be especially detrimental to their bottom line to acknowledge an issue like this right before the holiday purchasing season.

I have used several different cache cleaning apps, including Samsung's Device Maintenance and the ones that are included as part of my paid Antivirus subscriptions AVG, McAfee only to discover that they are not very adept at cleaning the app caches. Therefore, I go into the phone settings and go into the storage section of every app on my phone and clear the caches.

I do this every couple of days for the apps that I utilize constantly and I clean the cache on all the other apps about once a week. I have about 60 apps installed on my phone, a dozen of which I use heavily and then there are the system apps and programs on top of that. Is it a pain to go into each app to clear the cache? Turned on Locations for Email app. Looked at All Permissions from the dropdown menu, top right. At some time later, got another Update Security Settings for Email notice.
Did so. After "activating," was browsing Device Administrator permissions and now noticed that Samsung Email was granted permission as a Device Administrator had never seen there before.
Now my problem boils down to this. Still seem to be getting periodic Update Security Settings notifications for O account in question. No matter what, if I create a new e-mail to that account, a new Calendar appointment, or a new Contact, they always come through to my Galaxy Note 8 and being in the respective Samsung apps, are synched to my Gear S3 Frontier watch. However, here's the major problem still remaining. For some unknown reason, appointments in the Calendar already synched will just up and disappear entirely after a while.
When that happens, newly created ones will still sync over and still appear on the Note 8 until the next disappearance event as will new Contacts and new e-mails created to be in or go to the O account. If I go to the Email app and uninstall, then reinstall the O account, all my missing Calendar events will be restored, 'til the next mysterious disappearance. So, in summary, after granting Locations permission to the Samsung Email app, I appear to have allowed it to become a Device Administrator.
Synching of e-mails and Contacts seems to be working fine. I still seem to be getting once or twice a day notices from the Office servers that I need to Update Security Settings. These are all ActiveSync connected devices and only started happening after the Samsung email upgrade. We are seeing multiple reports that once users have upgraded from Samsung email client once they upgraded from 5. From what I am seeing, it appears that the 6. X version of your code seems to be going to sleep and not keeping some kind of keepalive going. I have verified that all of these devices DO NOT have battery optimization set for the mail apps and are not restricted the power in any way for the client.

I now know why my battery kept draining. None of these worked for me. Method 1 — Block Data Background was already not checked checked the box and then unchecked it.
Method 2 — Sync was already on turned it off and then on again. Method 3 — Auto Sync Data was already checked unchecked and then rechecked it — still none of them worked. G-mail is working fine. I have 3 email accounts set up on it, 2 for work and 1 from Time Warner, RoadRunner account.
